Bypass WSUS to allow updates from Microsoft

Open up a Command Prompt and run the following commands to edit the registry and restart the Windows Update service.

regedit "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU” /v UseWUServer /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f
net stop “Windows Update”
net start “Windows Update”

Find Office 2013/2016 Key

Open up a Command Prompt and run the following commands. Note: It will only display the last 5 characters.

32-bit Office / 32-bit Windows

cscript "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15\OSPP.VBS" /dstatus

32-bit Office / 64-bit Windows

cscript "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15\OSPP.VBS" /dstatus

64-bit Office / 64-bit Windows

cscript "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15\OSPP.VBS" /dstatus

Those commands are for Office 2013. For Office 2016, just replace “Office15” to “Office16”.

Change Office 2013/2016 Key

Open up a Command Prompt.
Then you just need to use the command below that matches your OS.

For 32 bit Windows:

cscript "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15\OSPP.VBS" /inpkey:NEWKEY

For 64 bit Windows (assuming you are using 32 bit Office):

cscript "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15\OSPP.VBS" /inpkey:NEWKEY

Those commands are for Office 2013.For Office 2016, just replace “Office15” by “Office16”.

Configure ESXi SNMP

To configure and enable SNMP on ESXi, connect to your host using SSH and execute the following commands.

  • Set community to “public”
esxcli system snmp set --communities=public
  • Set the target IP who will receive SNMP information on port 161
esxcli system snmp set --targets XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX@161/public
  • Enable SNMP
esxcli system snmp set --enable true
