Allow MySQL server remote connection

Stop MySQL server

/etc/init.d/mysql stop

Edit MySQL config file

vi /etc/mysql/my.cnf

Comment out following lines (or add/change the IP to reflect your desired access)

#bind-address           = 127.0.0.1

Start mysql server

/etc/init.d/mysql start

Grant privileges (edit username & password. Note ‘%’ is IP wildcard)

grant all privileges on "." to 'username'@'%' identified by 'password' with grant option;
