IIS – Install or Renew SSL Certificate

1 – Generate your CSR:

  • Open IIS Console
  • Select your Server in the left pane
  • Choose “Server Certificates” on the Server’s home page
  • Click on “Create Certificate Request” in the right pane and fill in all your information

 

2 – Send your generated CSR to your CA. You’ll receive certificates back. In my case, I received the Server Certificate and The Intermediate Certificate.

 

3 – Install Intermediate Certificate:

  • Open a MMC and add the Local Computer Certificate snap-in
  • Import your Intermediate Certificate to /Certificates/Intermediate Certification Authorities/Certificates

 

4 – Install Server Certificate:

  • Open IIS Console
  • Select your Server in the left pane
  • Choose “Server Certificates” on the Server’s home page
  • Click on “Complete Certificate Request”
  • Select your Server Certificate, give it a friendly name and import

 

4 – Apply your Server Certificate to your Site

  • Open IIS Console
  • Expand your Server in the left pane
  • Expand “Sites” and select your Site (ie.: Default Website)
  • Click on “Bindings…” in the right pane
  • Choose “https” and choose your Server Certificate. Ok

 

5 – Restart your IIS, you’re done !
